DENTAL PROBLEM IS A SERIOUS MATTER

It is a custom annually in my faculty where we are expected to come out with ideas on how we can attract the interest among the people regarding dental (oral) health.

Thus, we have to create an ample amount of audio-visual aids (AVA) products for our project. The project will require us to produce materials such as pamphlets or brochures, poster, video, souvenirs, games and contest, or any related material which can help us to communicate with people.

Thanks to my team, we have come out with several logos as a beginning for our project materials. These (not-so) cute caricatures figurine were created by my friends to serve as our logo. Interesting and I bet not many will realize how serious a dental problem can be.

DENTAL CARIES

More than 90% of adults have experience dental caries in one or more of their tooth throughout their life.
Dental caries occurs when there are four elements present all together – host (tooth), bacteria (plaque), food (sugar) and time.

To combat dental caries: ensure proper tooth-brushing with fluoridated toothpaste twice per day; reduce intake of sugary food; visit your dentist for routine check-up.

TOOTH SENSITIVITY

Tooth sensitivity occurs when the protective layer that covers the inner layer of the tooth is exposed and cold or hot food can excite the nerve ending to cause pain.
About one-third of the adults have tooth sensitivity.

To relieve pain from sensitivity, use desensitizing toothpaste for effectiveness.

TOOTH STAINING

In majority cases, tooth staining is largely caused by smoking.

Although tooth staining is normal with aging, these can be exacerbated by food products or chemical.

DENTAL TRAUMA

Tooth fracture is very common in children.

Avulsed tooth (complete removal of tooth from its bony socket) can still be saved, by putting the tooth in a milk, normal saline (salt water), blood or saliva and bring it to the nearest dentist for re-implantation.

TOOTHWEAR

Excessive force when tooth-brushing can cause toothwear on the tooth surface with general gum recession.

Bruxism is a habit when someone involuntarily clenches their teeth so hard and tight at night while the person is not aware about it.

HEALTHY TEETH

So, let us promote healthy teeth. A healthy dentition will enable it to function properly and without any hassles. No toothache is truly a blessing and it's all come from a good oral health and hygiene.
